Table Rock Fish Hatchery

A few weeks ago, for the first time ever I went to a fish hatchery. I didn't really know what to expect. I always thought it would be a boring place, with tanks of varying size fish, with nothing special to see. I was wrong!  It is an entertaining and educational place, especially for kids. I was in Arkansas visiting my daughter who is a graduate student at The University of Arkansas pursuing a Phd in math. I know, a Phd in math, that's another story. Anyway, we went to the Table Rock Fish Hatchery.

Table Rock Fish Hatchery is located in the shadows of the Table Rock Lake Dam.

Yes, it has fish tanks, but you can actually buy food for a quarter and feed the fish, which is cool.

I tossed a few food pellets in this tank and a school of trout came up and snapped up each pellet. These are nice size, but there were some larger trout in other tanks. I saw brown and rainbow trout. it's pretty interesting watching the trout, especially when they fight over the food. Beautiful fish!

There is a building that houses the educational part of the hatchery located at the beginning. It's kind of like a small museum with displays on the wall, large aquariums tanks stocked with large fish etc..., and a small auditorium for discussions/learning. I found it to be educational and really cool to see the large trout in the aquariums.

The best things about the hatchery is it's well done and FREE!
The Table Fish Hatchery is a nice place to spend an hour or two. My hats off to the workers of the hatchery, they are doing a great job. Kids will enjoy the place and really find it fun to feed the fish. Now, it's not Disney World, but it is a fun educational experience.

A Beautiful Lake Map

Folks have asked me to do an overall map of beautiful Lewis Smith Lake. It will  soon be on the website for ordering.  It will look great hanging in a customers lake house.

Interestingly, I've hidden a tiny mermaid in the waters of the Lewis Smith Lake map. Folks love to tell me about the search for the mermaid. They say the children really enjoy hunting for her and are thrilled when they spot her in the waters. Oh yeah, some folks tell me that she moves, but I'm not sure that I believe that.

Most folks add a star to a special place on the lake such as a lake house or where they caught that big fish. I've been doing lake, river and bay maps for approximately seven years. Over the years, I have experimented with different elements of map art in order to provide the best and most unique map on the market. Folks will be drawn to the map like a crackling fire on a cold winter night.  I try very hard to make my maps special by adding interest to the maps.
Also, each framed map or map over 16x32, comes with a certificate of authenticity, lake poem, and interesting facts abut the map.

I have hundreds of maps on my website that can be purchased right from the site, or I can do custom and personalized vintage style lake maps, too. Lake maps will add beauty to your Lake House Decor! Find out more interesting facts about my treasured maps by going to
