Logan Martin Lake Decor Map

Ain't she pretty! She's all dressed up in a barnwood frame and ready to go to the lake house warming party. You will be so proud when you walk in with the prettiest gift at the party! Beautiful Logan Martin Lake.

Interestingly, on Logan Martin Lake there’s a tiny unique island named Pirate's Island. It's only 30 feet by 30 feet, but it is very popular in the summer time. It has a pirate flag, tiki, palm tree, a hammock and a treasure chest. The chest has all sorts of beads and jewels.

One fun thing to do is to leave a treasure, such as Mardi Gras beads and take a treasure. Kids love this!

A true Treasured Place!

I have hundreds of maps on my website that can be purchased  from the site, or I can do custom and personalized vintage style lake maps, too. Lake maps will add beauty to your Lake House Decor! Find out more interesting facts about my treasured maps by paddling over to LeoLakes.com

Oh Yeah, unlike most maps there's a tiny mermaid hidden in the waters which folks love to search for and some say she moves around! You'll love the waterfowl which are hand painted (touched up) on the canvas prints to give that original look and each map is hand signed by Leo. LeoLakes.com

A Lake Memory

I was working on a map of the Tennessee River the other day for a customer. It included the section of the river that shows Danville TN. As I was working on the map, I felt something different about this map. However, I just couldn't pin point why this map was special. I didn't finish the map that day and put it aside.

The next day, when I started back on the map, It Hit Me, I've been here before! It was with my dad and a fishing buddy. I was twevle years old. It was early spring and we were in a bass boat fishing along the railroad tussel that extendes across the water near the Danville Ferry. We were fishing for catfish and using chicken livers, yes chicken livers. A very funny thing happened that day!

As I was casting out, my juicy chicken liver flew off my hook and splat on the side of my dad's head, right above his ear. I watched the liver slowly slide down, stop and curl around his ear with juice running down. It was so funny, but I wasn't sure if I should laugh. However, my dad and his fishing buddy busted out laughing. It was so funny when he reached up and flung the bait into the water. It was a cool memory and it all strated with a "Treasured Map".  Remember: "Get away from the big screen and get on a be stream..." Special Lake Maps

I've been working on this special map of Watts Bar Lake. What makes it a special map other than being a Leo Lakes Map? Well, it's a wedding map.

I have been doings, what I call, wedding maps for over ten years. Couples email me about painting a map of a lake that they either met, proposed, or were married on. Amazingly, more couples than you would think, have a connection to the lake and their relationship.

This customer asked that I add five special points of interest to this map. If you look closely, you may see them. The most interesting point is "She Said Yes". This definitely makes the map special. Hopefully, this map will become a family heirloom and passed down generation after generation. Hey, why not paddle over to LeoLakes.com and see more interesting treasured maps.

My largest canvas lake map.

A few weeks ago, I completed this large canvas map of Old Hickory Lake. It is approximately 12 feet long and 4-1/2 feet tall. it is wall papered to the drywall and a frame was added. The lake house owner added the accent lighting.

When you walk into the room, it certainly grabs your attention, "What a conversation piece". This is the largest map that I've done to date. I added as much detail as I could to the lake, creek titles, small towns, named bluffs, etc...

Also, you will find much wildlife/waterfowl around the lake such as eagles, geese, herons and gulls. To add more interest to the map, I add fish jumping and hide a tiny mermaid to the waters. Folks love to search the waters for hidden surprises.

If you would like to see more and read about my treasured maps go to LeoLakes.com.  We have many lake maps that will make great gifts for the lake house.

Not a Fish was Stirring...

I went fishing a few years ago near Christmas and here's what happened.

Last weekend I went to one of my favorite lakes to fish and kayak. This particular lake was stocked with rainbow trout the day before and my goal was to catch few. This poem tells you how well the fishing trip went.

Not a fish was stirring, not even a carp!
L.E.Oldfield

T’was the night after the rainbows had been stocked in the lake, I went fishing to see what I might take,

The fly's were hung in the tackle box with care, in hopes that a big rainbow would soon be near.

When out on the lake there arose such a splatter, I sprang up in my kayak to see what was the matter.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,  just a fallen tree near an old whitetail deer.

I found not a fish was stirring, not even a carp, so I paddled my Kayak back to the park.

When I arrived home, fun was had by all, as my wife had just arrived from the mall.

That pretty much sums up my fishing trip. Apparently the trout, being new to the lake had pissed off everyone and nobody was biting.

The Ten Acre Woods

Thirty years ago, me and my wife Karen, played Lewis and Clark. We cleared a path through the “Ten Acre Woods” to the creek. I know, what a great wife and she likes my tractor. Anyway, over the years the path has become overgrown. Today, we are back to road building.

This is Eloise. Hopefully we will be able to ride Eloise back to the creek at some point.

The terrain is very rough and hilly. Unfortunately, camera images just don't show how hilly it really is. This photo below shows the path that we have cleared.

While clearing the path, we ran across an old trash pile. It appears to go back to the 40s, 50s, and 60s. I found some bottles and must say that I recognize some of the brands. Can you find the "Champagne of Beers" bottle?
Eloise is ready to start down the path. However, it will take a few weeks or even months before the trail is completed because of the weather and it's busy season for my business, Leo Lakes Decor Maps.

Believe it or not, a road went through here years ago and it shows how much cutting that I need to do.
Stay tuned, I will provide updates. By the way, checkout my lake decor maps at LeoLakes.com

Man Toy

I have ten acres with a creek on the back of the property. I call it the "Ten Acre Woods". It's very hilly and I haven't bush hogged the back area in a long while. I purchased this UTV to run around in the Ten Acre Woods and travel to the creek. But......it is so grown-up, I am having to cut, chainsaw, and bush hog, a trail to the creek.

I feel like Lewis and Clark attempting to find a passage to the Pacific Ocean, except I'm trying to make it to the creek about a 1/4 of a mile away. You know what the good thing is? I haven't encountered any indians.....but that might have been interesting!

Anyway, I purchased the Prowler 500 which is the same as an Artic Cat. Both models are now owned by Textron who also makes the Bass Pro Tracker 500.
We will see how this works out, but I must say that with 10 areas, a UTV will be fun. It is a 4x4 and can pull a 1,500 lbs trailer.
In the future I will add some photos of the trail cutting process. Stay tuned.
Also, paddle over to my studio and check out these great Christmas gifts for the lake lover. I do maps........
If it's a gift for the lakelover, just wait until you see their face when they open a LeoLakes Treasured Decor Map! See more at www.LeoLakes.com Here's a photo of my studio!
